failure to fast map

Beach and I were in the local church sponsored thrift store, you know the one, and one of the clerks called her "a little angel".  She responded by frowning and turning away forcing me to make mother excuses for her behavior (got nothing!!!).  I ended up agreeing with him that she must be shy.  
After he left I asked her why she was so rude and this is what she said: Well, he started it by calling me dead!
