community learning center opening

A new Community Learning Center opened up in our neighborhood.  Spurred on my a community journalism class assignment to attend the grand opening event- we went!  Beach was a bit on the shy side but I think she had fun.  I know I was blown away by the all the resources housed within one amazing state of the art building!  A full pre K and Kindergarten programs, medical and dental clinics, vision center, community classrooms including a huge home economics style cooking classroom with multiple kitchen stations, tons of books, Kindles, I-pads, playground, and plans for a community garden.  One of the many advantages of living a community considered undeserved.
It is sandwiched between Glendale Middle School and Mountain Elementary School.  Great location for our community and walking distance for us!
Wasatch Community Gardens Booth, Beach got free seeds :)
Most rooms have bookcases full of new books just like or bigger than this one.
Beach making her bookmark after enjoying cookies and milk from the community kitchen.  Then off to play on the playground while mom gets over the incredible free book Boo was given!!! The Way We Work by David Macualay, a book on human anatomy for kids.  I have to point out it retails for 35 bucks!

A great day to live in Glendale!
