We got a last minute call to join Mrs. K celebrating her birthday by cooking herself dinner :) We abandoned our other plans to go see a movie under the stars at the state capital, made a new batch of R & B farm fresh salsa, cut some sunflower (happy birthday from the urban hood), snipped basil & Greek oregano, then collected a bag of just picked tomatoes and headed over for a spectacular dinner!!!
And drinks :)
Mrs. K and the kids during the singing of Happy Birthday. This is Mrs. K as I know her: covered by her kids, the center of it all, with 2 papillas (sp? something Greek for pacifier...or it may be something really crass with her you never know), a phone, and good food.
Before dinner as the champagne flutes were being handed out we discussed good china & priceless stemware debating whether to use or not to use....so of course one got broken!
It's not a party until...we vacuum up broken glass.
A malfunctioning corkscrew called for tools. This is Mr. K's tool box. It is also why BC is their handyman.
Sometimes there is a magnificent photo of an evening and this fuzzy photo of Mrs. K blowing glow in the dark bubbles in the house while all the women around her urge her to not do it in the house because it may stain, is that perfect shot.
And we were right "look at the table!!!" (& the cake).
And look at even BC's concern while Mrs. K laughs on & reloads.
But we did finally get the bubbles outside and into the hands of more responsible people.
Thanks for the great night K Family.
And to all my friends who I told to meet me a capital: so sorry & how was the show?
The show was a delight.
ReplyDeleteThe Grows showed up with a giant bag of popcorn.
Even Beckam ate some.
The Sandlot is timeless. Right up there with Star Wars and When Harry Met Sally.
Sophie put on a gymnastics show, of course.
And I got to cuddle with Andrew...
