I stood in my driveway telling a friend "today was the first day I could walk barefoot without pain." I tried to show her the nothing-less that is the problem but you can't see them the way I feel them. This is that foot thing from before, a pressure sore or a corn or an alien invasion. On my left foot the sore is right below my big toe and on the other it is closer to the base of the second toe. To recap the disaster I have done everything you should, everything you shouldn't, then a mix of the 2 which seemed to help. I soak them, I dry them out, I soak them, I slather them with goop (technical term I learned on the burn unit).
At first I thought it was caused by hill running in too big of shoes, now I suspect it might be flat running in same shoes or wearing BC's flip-flops 'cause mine got eaten by black slime out at the GSL. I have very little pain in socks & shoes although the pressure is constant. I can even run pretty comfortably but I will admit a lacing error caused my feet to be mostly asleep all of last week...idiot! (Cruella De Ville).
This morning I hobbled downstairs and out back to farm noticing yes, I can't quite step flat-footed on my right foot. I fed and watered everything in the yard sloshed inside (I'm not very accurate with the hose) hobbled upstairs. Sure enough I am pain and I have a new sore on the right foot below the original spot. This is that moment when you think 'this isn't happening'. And I have little else to say about it except: I know it WILL get better. I know my feet are not in true danger, this is a minor inconvenience. I know as a diabetic I have to be patient, careful, and aware of what my body is telling me....oh-Darwin, if that is true we are so screwed!
